Mrs. Marino's Second Grade Observations

Second graders were observing and exploring in the garden. Kids were looking for details in the plants that are growing- colors, shapes, textures and sizes of plant parts. Then kids wrote notes and sketched their observations!

Potato Harvest

Mrs. Kimball-Dorey's first graders were out in the garden Wednesday with our friend Meighan Matthews digging up potatoes. Everyone took one home to share and the rest will be donated to the local food pantry. Kids found worms, spiders and grubs too! A great time was had by all!

Gourds!

Mrs. Nocera's first grade class harvested their gourds recently. They are beautiful and are decorating their classroom!
Here is a great photo of the husk cherries you can hunt for in the garden!  They are also called "ground cherries" because the ones you eat are found on the ground!  You want the ones with the brown papery husks.  Remove the husks and pop the sweet cherries in your mouth - yum!

Welcome Back!

This is the Davis School garden blog where our whole community can learn about our garden and see what's happening outside in the dirt!
Right now our garden is bursting with all kinds of late summer goodies. Stop by and take a peek-it is across from the bus loop.
See you in the garden!
