Homemade Silly Putty

INGREDIENTS

1 cup of cornstarch
1/2–1 cup clear liquid soap (Method hand soap works best*
Food coloring or gel colors
A small bowl and spoon for mixing

Add the cornstarch and 1/2 cup liquid soap (use the lesser amount to start with) into a medium-sized bowl and mix.

Add a couple drops of food coloring and mix. Add a little more color if desired (you shouldn’t need a lot.)

Mix the ingredients together with the spoon until it is too hard to mix, then use your fingers.

Add more soap if it’s dry. Low humidity in the air will cause you to need more soap.

When your silly putty is moldable and a bit slimy, but no longer sticks to your fingers, it’s ready!

Today's Nature Idea-Make Huge Bubbles!

Ingredients

· 6 cups water (distilled is best but tap water is fine)

· 1/2 cup blue Dawn dish detergent I used “ultra concentrated”, but Dawn original is even better.

· 1/2 cup corn starch

· 1 tbsp baking powder (not baking soda)

· 1 tbsp Glycerine

You will also need a giant bubble wand.

HOMEMADE GIANT BUBBLE RECIPE

1. Dissolve Cornstarch-Dissolve cornstarch in the water, stirring really well.

2. Add Remaining Ingredients-Stir in the rest of the ingredients, being very careful not to create a lot of froth.

3. Let it Sit-Allow your bubble mixture to sit for at least an hour before using, stirring occasionally when you see the cornstarch settling to the bottom.

Note: Some of the cornstarch won’t dissolve completely and may even settle to the bottom when you’re using your bubble mixture, but it won’t affect the quality of your bubbles.

HOW TO MAKE A GIANT BUBBLE WAND:

I used two drinking straws, and a length of yarn that was 6 to 8 times longer than the length of one straw. Thread the yarn through the straws, tie a knot, and you’re good to go!
