Mrs. Marino was the photographer of these beautiful pictures of our amazing garden! She and her daughter Kate visited the garden and had fun exploring and capturing it for us to enjoy!
Beautiful pictures! These long purple beans are called "Purple Yard Long Beans" or "Red Noodle Beans." They are native to Southern China, and are predominant in Thai, Chinese and Filipino cuisines. In the Philippines, they are also referred to as Sitaw or Kibal. The purple beans are a staple crop in Thailand and can be found growing in some areas in the US. They do well in droughts, and grow best in cooler summer climates. If there are any left in the garden you can try keeping the beans through the winter to dry them, and replant in the spring!!
