New Garden Fence

With the generous help of Meighan Matthews, her kids Phineas and Willa (former Davis students) and Kate Brooks, mom of Oliver and Isabella, a fence was constructed around our beautiful garden!
We hope it helps protect our plants for the Davis School gardeners who have worked so hard in their classroom garden beds.

Earth Day Celebration

Kids from Mrs. Kimball-Dorey, Mrs. Flaherty-Dawson, Mr. Dattoli, Mrs. Marino and Mrs. Beers classes all painted rocks in honor of Earth Day. They look beautiful in front of our school!

Grass Guys/Gals

Mrs. Nocera's first graders planted grass seed as part of our seed germination unit in science. Kids put seeds and soil into knee high stockings and watched them grow! After a while, they all needed haircuts!

Gardening Tables

Anthony Cheng, a father in Bedford, made us two beautiful tables to use out at our garden! He also built our garden compost bin. We are so grateful for all of his help.

Plant Observations

Kids in Mrs. Harary and Mrs. Davies' first grade classes went out to the garden today to make a map of our garden beds. We used clipboards and pencils from the garden shed. Our plants are really growing!

Kindergarten and Second Grade Gardeners!

Mrs. Avis and Ms. Bourgeois worked with their kindergarten and second grade students to get them ready to go out and plant in their shared garden bed. Mrs. Avis taught her second grade students ahead of time about worms, their habitats, their body structure and what benefits they provide to the soil. On the second day of this lesson, Ms. Bourgeois'  kindergarten students joined the second graders for them to read to the kindergartners about worms and to review the previous taught lesson. All of our students were asked to be "scientists" and look for (observe) worms when we went outside to plant. The students found several worms and were able to move them to our garden plot. We planted pansies and snap peas. All of the students really enjoyed their learning time and planting time with one another!
